Course update

Well it's hard to believe I haven't posted anything in two years. Lets just say the blog was under major construction for two years. 
I'll bet everyone is wondering when Eastwood is going to open. I'm going to go with some where between April 10 and April 15. The weather is not helping us at all. The frost is pretty deep this year and we need warm weather during the day and some warm rain would also help to get the frost out of the ground. The other problem is the lows at night. There so low at night everything refreezes at night. So we need Mother Nature to figures out that it's suppose to be spring and not winter. 
When we open up its usually the front nine first and walking only. As soon as the back nine drys out then we will open the back nine. Trust me I'm as eager as you  to get the golf course opened. I will keep you updated if we can open any earlier. Thanks for being patient ... Dave

Stumps Dirt Seed

The title pretty much describes what we have been doing when its not raining.  We have most of the new stumps filled and seeded. We still have some from last year to fill in and seed yet.  I have put small flags in the middle of the dirt so they don't get stepped on or so carts don't drive over them. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will be filling in some bad spots with dirt and seed. There's so many spots to fill in that I can't name all the holes they are on. The really bad spots will be roped off . Please do your best to stay out of these areas. This coming week we have two high school tournaments. Tuesday we have an 8 am shot gun start with the girls then at 1:30 the boys have a shot gun start. On Wednesday we have another tournament that starts at one. On Tuesday we are hoping to start staining the club house deck weather permitting. That's it for now enjoy your day...... Brudy

Looks like the rain is going to give us a break for a few days. Just a quick update on what we are up to these days other than the daily maintenance of the golf course. Right now we are edging the bunkers. We aren’t making them any bigger. The edges are all cut we just need to clean them up and push the sand back up. On holes 15 and 16 where the brush was cut out Joe took the York Rake and cleaned all the brush up and is tearing the stumps out . These areas look really good. Please keep your carts out of these areas . On the list also is to finish staining the clubhouse deck. There’s many things to do and we will do as much as we can before the kids head back to school. Chipping area

The chipping area is finally opened. There’s a few areas that are still in rough shape but there’s plenty of grass to open it. As of now we are going to keep the height of cut at 2.25 . When everything fills in we will gradually work the heigh of cut down to collar height which is 3/4 of an inch.  With this warm weather you may have noticed that the rough is thick and deep. We usually mow the rough once a week then on Friday mow a few passes around the fairways and mow the valleys. This week we are on our second mowing of the rough. The backnine will be done on Friday then we will make a few passes around the fairways on the front nine and if we have time mow some of the valleys. Mowing the rough twice a week isn’t easy. It takes about 14 hrs to get through the rough once. The math is easy if we are trying to mow it twice a week 28 hrs . That’s a lot of man hrs if your mowing twice a week. There’s days where we won’t have enough staff to mow the rough twice. We will do our best to keep
