Vandalism

Well I hope everyone is enjoying this October weather. Tomorrow its suppose to be almost 75 degrees.  Unbelievable! !!!!
At this moment I would like to thank the person or persons for driving a vehicle on 13 green. Its so nice to come to work and look down the 13 th fairway and see that something is not right with the green. I was just hoping it was shadows from the trees. Well it wasn't any shadows from the trees. They did donuts in the fairway and on the green and drove through the bunkers.  We were able to patch up some of the torn sod on the green and collars. We top dressed the real bad spots with sand.  We mowed the green to clean things up and it looks a lot better. Now with it being so late in the season there is nothing else we can do to get those spots to heal up. In the spring we will hit it hard with fertilizer and get some seed in those bad spots. Then we will top dress it and give it plenty of water. I'm guessing by June or the end of June it will healed up. Its a sad thing that this happened.  Everyone has worked so hard to keep this golf course in great shape. Then bam something happens. We did put up a fence towards the east to help us  keep cars , three wheelers , and any other motor vehicles off the golf course. If people want to get there vehicles on the golf course they will find away. All we can do is pray that the fence and our neighbors watching the course  will keep them away. At the end of this post there will be pictures of the damage and what we did to make the green playable.
This coming Friday and Saturday October 23 and 24 we will be blowing out the irrigation lines. So if your playing watch out for irrigation heads popping up.
We are trying to keep the greens cleared from all the leaves that are blowing around.  The strong winds we are experiencing isn't helping us. The pine needles are a problem also. We are mulching leaves as best as we can. We just need this wind to calm down and we will be able to do a better job.
Have a great week. ... Dave
